Cavemen Lose to Summit, Tuesday Night Basketball Action
A young and shorthanded Caveman basketball team put up a scrappy defense but succumbed to the Summit Storm Tuesday night at Heater-Newman Gym 72 to 58. The Cavemen, with only two healthy Seniors, trailed throughout the contest, down by six at the end of the first quarter, by seven at the half and by ten at the end of three.
Junior Kingston Connelly led Grants Pass with 17 points, Sophomore Jordan Rosetta contributed 15 and Senior Tim Hart had 12 after hitting four long 3-point shots.
Senior Peyton Bruner was averaging 19 points per game when he broke his left hand in the final game in Southern California. He is hoping to return to the lineup by the 2nd half of the conference schedule.
The Cavemen open conference play this Friday night when they host the Axe out of South Eugene. Tip off is slated for 6:45 and the game will be heard on live on KAJO, 99.7 f.m., 1270 a.m. and streamed on kajo.com.
