Deputies Jailed Man & Two Women for Breaking into Colonial Valley House
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office jailed a man and two women for breaking into a home in the Colonial Valley area yesterday. The Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a reported burglary in the 200-block of Colonial Drive on Thursday during the noon hour. Deputies said a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report four "suspicious-looking" people in a white Cadillac pulled into the driveway next door. They said the neighbor used his Ford Explorer to block in the Cadillac and two male subjects fled on foot. Two women remained behind, told the neighbor that they heard the house was vacant and they were interested in renting or buying it. Upon arrival, deputies searched the Cadillac and found items taken from the house including ammunition, DVD players, a bike pump, a backpack with family photo albums, jewelry, voided checks and mail belonging to the victim's deceased parents. The women -- ages 35 and 30 -- initially denied entering the dwelling. A K-9 officer was brought in and successfully located one of the male suspects -- a 43-year-old man -- but the other suspect got away. The man was wanted on warrants out of Josephine and Douglas counties for crimes including Attempt to Elude Police, Failure to Report as a Sex Offender, Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespass. He was lodged at the Josephine County Jail. The suspect and two women were also charged with Felony 2nd-Degree Burglary. All the stolen items were recovered and the Cadillac was impounded.
