JCSO Reports Scammers Threatening Arrest, Using Local US Marshals Phone Number
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of scammers calling with arrest threats for missed jury duty.

JCSO said some of the scam calls looked to be from the local US Marshals office, as scammers can spoof legitimate phone numbers.

If you receive a call from anyone pretending to be from a law enforcement agency, and they ask for a payment, hang up.

JCSO and other law enforcement agencies remind everyone they will never ask you to pay anything over the phone, and they will not call you if you have missed Grand Jury, Jury Duty, or if you have a Jury Summons or warrant.

Call your local law enforcement agency if you want to confirm the legitimacy of a potential spam call.
