Jessica Bridges sent her mother a two word text, “Help Me!” Her mother notified the Rogue River police who initiated a welfare check at Bridges apartment and after two tries Jessica answered the door and whispered,”Help me. He’s in the bathroom.”

The lead singer for the punk/metal band Early Graves died early Monday morning when a van loaded with nine people rolled over on I-5 near Central Point.

Robinson awaits chance to face DeFazio in debates
Art Robinson sees the difference between himself and his opponent in the race to represent Oregon’s Fourth District in Congress as the gulf between two disparate political philosophies – and he’s willing to debate against 12-term Democratic incumbent Peter DeFazio to show that difference.

Robinson, who won the Republican nomination for the seat in May, spoke before an audience of about 100 at the Guild Building last night and laid out his platform.

An 85-year-old man was killed when the home-built gyrocopter crashed near the airport in Cave Junction.

The pilot has been identified as Paul A. Block of Cave Junction.

One dead in rollover accident; van carries to SF bands
Oregon State Police say a van carrying two San Francisco-area metal bands crashed on Interstate 5 near Central Point, killing one man and injuring two others.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says members of the bands Early Graves and The Funeral Pyre played a show in Eugene and were heading to Nevada early this morning when the driver lost control after falling asleep.

City may revisit taxi driver's license application
The Grants Pass City Council may decide to revisit its decision to turn down a local man’s application to provide taxi service from last week.

City attorney Mark Bartholomew said during today’s workshop meeting of the council that Aaron Lamar had written to the city to appeal its 4-3 decision against his taxi driver’s license application.
